{"id":854,"date":"2026-03-23T10:36:57","date_gmt":"2026-03-23T11:36:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mycrochettips.com\/?p=854"},"modified":"2026-04-12T07:38:41","modified_gmt":"2026-04-12T07:38:41","slug":"uk-packaging-pro-appointed-to-deliver-pepr-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mycrochettips.com\/index.php\/2026\/03\/23\/uk-packaging-pro-appointed-to-deliver-pepr-scheme\/","title":{"rendered":"UK Packaging PRO appointed to deliver pEPR scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-beyondwords-player=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<h4><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-44770 size-full lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" alt=\"Packaging EPR\" width=\"860\" height=\"516\" data-src=\"http:\/\/www.mycrochettips.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/supermarket-packaging.png\"><\/h4>\n<h4>The producer-led organisation\u202fUK Packaging PRO has been\u202fappointed to manage the UK\u2019s Extended Producer Responsibility for Packaging (pEPR) scheme.<\/h4>\n<p>UK Packaging PRO is a producer-led organisation of more than 100 brands, retailers and trade bodies, which are also supported by the Food and Drink Federation (FDF) and the Industry Council for Packaging and the Environment (INCPEN).<\/p>\n<p>Karen Graley, Head of UK Packaging PRO, said UK Packaging PRO was created to give producers a \u2018genuine seat at the table\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith strong governance in place, a clear mobilisation plan, and broad support from across the sector, we are ready to get to work \u2013 in close partnership with PackUK, governments, local authorities and organisations across the value chain to deliver a packaging system that works better for everyone,\u201d Graley continued.<\/p>\n<p>The formal appointment for UK Packaging PRO will commence on 1 April 2026, with PackUK, the scheme administrator for pEPR, maintaining oversight of the PRO.<\/p>\n<p>Core\u202fadministrative\u202fpowers,\u202fsuch as\u202ffinal decisions on local authority payments and producer fees, will remain\u202fwith PackUK.\u202f<\/p>\n<p>The\u202fpEPR\u202fscheme provides\u00a0funding to local authorities to drive improvements in\u00a0recycling. \u00a31.4 billion was\u00a0reinvested\u00a0back into recycling infrastructure in the first year of the scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Circular Economy Minister, Mary Creagh, called the appointment a \u2018major step forward\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur packaging Extended Producer Responsibility (pEPR) scheme will incentivise businesses towards more sustainable packaging choices and improve recycling services in every region,\u201d Creagh said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe launch of UK Packaging PRO, led by businesses and working closely with PackUK, is a major step forward \u2013 putting industry expertise at the centre of how pEPR is delivered.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.circularonline.co.uk\/news\/uk-packaging-pro-appointed-to-deliver-pepr-scheme\/\">UK Packaging PRO appointed to deliver pEPR scheme<\/a> appeared first on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.circularonline.co.uk\">Circular Online<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 The producer-led organisation\u202fUK Packaging PRO has been\u202fappointed to manage the UK\u2019s Extended Producer Responsibility for Packaging (pEPR) scheme.
